On 9 septembre 2009 gave the lioness shantee birth to two lion cubs.
A second young appeared unfortunately not viable. The cub is very welcome, because the Asian lion is much rare than the African lion. There only 100 asian lions left in the Gir reserve in India. Rotterdam zoo are the only zoo in the Netherlands with Asian lions. In 2006, It was the first time two Asian leeuwtjes became born of the same mother, Shantee called. Mother Shantee and its young stays for a couple of weeks behind the scenes .If the young is large enough and can follow mother,than is he/she visible for the public. It is for Father Kumar (from scotland)the first time he become a father.mother shantee has another cub bente She is born in 2006, in rotterdam zoo.Mother Shantee has arrived on 12 July 2006 in Blijdorp from the zoo of Boissière-du-Doré (not far from Nantes) in France. There has its earlier even if a couple time nestje thrown, but with exception of the first time she has never raised here cubs.That is the reason that rotterdam zoo is carefull with this cub.

kumar and shantee

I am going with all the first year of eco and wildlife study to germany for a week.I finnaly met the my classmates.

Busy to find working experience places from november till first week of february(england)and from 24 may till 2 july(netherlands).I have send 15 letters to zoos in england and the netherlands and now is waiting of the respod I get.

Rotterdam zoo news:

The Loggerhead Sea Turtle youngster that stranded 21 noverber 2008 on the coast in the netherlands is back in the wild .When he was stranded he weigth 2,5 kg normally around 4 kg.The released him in portugal.

the new enclosure of giraffes is open.

Maybe the Bengal tiger Alia is pregnant the cubs will come around end of the summer when everythings go well.


New arrival by the gorilla's, a young two old male nasibu has arrived in the fist week of july he had problems with alfa male Viatu in frankfurt he was almost killed .Now they want to introduce nasibu to the gorilla group here in Rotterdam.They have him introduce severral times now not the alfa male Bokito is a problem but his younger son thomas is chasing him. Nasibu don't now how he must handle in this situation.Now is out the group and recovering.

YEAH I am accepted.I am going to do the eco and wildlife study,I going to start in september.

Some information about it.

Eco & Wildlife study Eco & Wildlife study are very alternating study. Four topics to stand centrally in the first three years: - animals in their environment; - flora and fauna; - work with people and other cultures; - communicate, undertake and strange languages. These topic is focused on the Netherlands, Europe and other continents. During seminars you quench and develop you follow several tasks. This way learn you concerning the links between plant increase, geology and the existence of at. Animal care and studying behaviour of wildlife are also important. Moreover learn you concerning people and cultures. Concerning behaviour in groups and how your activities organises and carries out. Also information to give, well communicates in several strange languages and first aid are substantial component of your training. Moreover course you every year training period in and foreign country. In the first year a couple time some weeks, in the next school years always longer time and increasingly further gone. Specialisation The fourth year is a specialisation year. The knowledge of the first three years can deepen you further or extend. That can carry out with projects and training periods run in a field or quench follow of other training.

On 15 may was my last day in avifauna.
It was a great time there.I had a lot of fun with the zookeepers and also the working with the animals was great.Feeding the birds was very funny.Every animal is waiting for you to give there fish or seed and for someone little chickens.The first three a four weeks some birds were locked up in the inside enclosure.The reason is that some of the birds are comming from tropical or warm habitats and our climate is to cold in the winter for them to stay outside.That is also the reason why had some problems with one Marabou Stork I was a little a fraid from him.The marabou's were inside there enclosure and to feed them you must walk around him the other marabou's were nice anly this one was a little bit cranky.Three weeks later I wasen't a fraid anymore.The wetter was going nicer and warmer and that was the reason to let some birds out there inside enclosure and also the cranky marabou had the possiblility to stretch his legs.Some birds have stolen my hart like the hornbills what a wonderfull creatures are that and also the inca terns are such wonderfull birds.the most time of the day you are cleaning everything butt to see all to birds when you are cleaning and see the behavior make everything good.

next monday I turn in all my homework and then I must wait if i am graduate.

I have wrote my self in in another school. The study is could eco and wildlife and is a 4 years study.When i am accepted iam going to tell more about this school and where it stands for.

On 10 april 2009 in the morning gave the gorilla Tamani live to here third child.It is unknown if it is a boy or girl.His/here father is bokito.
